7 ways to make space...

Dress for the task. Would rubber gloves help? Or an apron? A soft swimming cap is good for keeping hair out of the equation.

Start. If you are overwhelmed by a room, take one small part of it (e.g.. top of telly or the bookshelves) and pretend you have all day to tidy it. This little piece of mental trickery means you won't freeze or feel the job is too much. Also, time yourself. Time seems to go slowly when you are tidying but you will get a lot done in ten minutes.

Make your bed. If you are in the bedroom, this will keep the floor clear of bedclothes and will give you a base to sort clothes etc.

Identify BIG items that you don't like or don't use. Tables, fridges, statues...   Getting rid of these provides immediate space. You may need to really look because you may have stopped "seeing" this stuff.

Return other people's belongings to them or arrange collection.

Work on SMALL sections of your house and aim to reduce or reorder a few things. These little bits of space add up - physically and mentally.

Don't buy clutter and don't reclutter. Stockpiling is rarely helpful. Avoid, for example, large grocery shops. Use cosmetics until they run out. Quality beats quantity.
